AbleCommerce & NopCommerce plugins

A set of storefront and admin plugins across two e-commerce platforms, including an open-source NopCommerce Q&A module.

The problem

Clients on AbleCommerce and NopCommerce needed storefront features the platforms don't ship, and needed them built to each platform's own conventions so upgrades don't break them.

Approach

  • Built a FAQ system and a generic Product-API consumer for AbleCommerce using .NET and NHibernate.
  • Created an open-source Q&A plugin for NopCommerce with .NET Core and LINQ to DB.
  • Followed each platform's plugin architecture (routing, DI, migrations, localization) rather than bolting features on.

Outcome

  • Clients got the storefront functionality they needed without leaving their platform.
  • The NopCommerce Q&A plugin is public and has been forked by other developers.
